Bright, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is initially restrained but blossoms in volume to show vibrant and fragrant yellow stonefruit aromas melded with a layer of nutty oak with toasty and mineral detail. Medium-full bodied, bright and lively yellow stonefruit flavours are entwined with nutty oak, toasty elements and minerally uggestions. The mouthfeel is lush, with subtly creamy barrel-ferment richness providing good presence. Fine, lacy acidity lends a slippery flow, the palate possessing energy and tension. The wine follows a fine phenolic, textural thread, with some underlying alcohol drive, leading to a sustained, lively finish with stonefruit and nutty nuances and some oxidative interest. This is a bright, stonefruited Chardonnay with nutty detail, and a rich and lively mouthfeel. Match with poultry, pork and veal dishes over the next 4+ years. Mendoza clone fruit from the company’s Gimblett Road vineyard, vines planted 2005, hand-picked, WBP, and fully-barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc. the wine aged 14 months in 30% new French oak barriques on lees, with 100% MLF. 365 dozen made.
