All the grapes for our O:TU Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013 were estate grown on both alluvial flat and sunny north-facing slopes.
Moderate flowering in 2013 delivered a light, intense crop which we harvested very late in the season, leaving the fruit to ripen until the last week of April.
All measures were taken to retain the very unique flavours and expression of this very one of a kind location.
As it came off the vineyard, all the fruit was immediately crushed to press and the bright, clear juice was left to cold settle for 48 hours. After cool fermentation for three weeks the wine was racked and kept on light lees until bottling. We bottled this wine early to retain maximum freshness and aroma.
This resulting O:TU wine is a distinctive expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which bursts with light yet zesty fruit intensity.
Aromas of sweet grass, nettles, blackcurrant and gooseberries are underpinned with fresh, lemon and peaches characters.
Flavours of ripe greens, gooseberry and currant, with a long, appetizing mineral finish.
This O:TU Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is best enjoyed young and fresh. Gather your good friends and enjoy now.
