Quick Overview

Deep ruby-red appearance. Aromas of strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with a palate of ripe fruit flavours and a long finish.

The vineyards of Chateau Tourens are located on rocky terraces and limestone clay hillsides where grapes ripen under the powerful, ever present sun. Syrah 60%, Grenache 20%, Carignan 20%.
Directly north from the appellation of Corbires, separated from it only by the River Aude and its companion, the Canal du Midi, is Minervois. As with Corbires, Minervois is an appellation where Carignan once ruled, blended with the other red grapes of the Languedoc, including Grenache, Syrah, Mourvdre, Lledoner Pelut, Cinsaut and others. The improving varieties – Syrah and Mourvdre – must constitute a minimum 10% of the blend, a fairly small requirement that mirrors the character of Corbires. Syrah is more widely planted than Mourvdre, as it is more suited to the inland location. Like Corbires the region was awarded AC status in 1985, and since then there has been a number of significant changes in the region, all with the aim of an improvement in quality.
